A huge thing about Dead Space 2 that I loved, is that you can beat it without dying, but mistakes are punished. Indecision, improper aim, poor spacing, etc. All can get you quickly killed in an encounter. Enemies are fast, hit hard, but die quick.

Knocks them down, does crazy damage. Weaker necromorphs will die. Stronger ones will sometimes need an arm chopped as well. The Remake changed how cutting limbs works a little bit.
WebIf you die the game ends and only way to continue is to set your difficulty to hard instead of impossible. Otherwise the one life mentioned in-game description does not make sense. Force gun at close range and alt fire of the pulse rifle at mid range will save you from getting overwhelmed.
