WebJan 1, 2014 · Solomon wrote, "Guard your steps when you go to the house of God" (Eccl. 5:1). One rendering of this verse is: "Watch your feet when you go to the house of God." The phrase guard your steps means to proceed with reverence, tip toeing into the presence of God. We come with care and caution. WebEcclesiastes represents the painful autobiography of Solomon who, for much of his life, squandered God’s blessings on his own personal pleasure rather than God’s glory. He wrote to warn subsequent generations not to make the same tragic error, in much the same manner as Paul wrote to the Corinthians (cf. 1 Cor. 1:18–31; 2:13–16 ).
