WebNov 23, 2024 · What's even weirder is that now the check engine goes out and the heat comes on and works great as long as the outside temperature is (0+) outside and after maybe 10 mins of driving. If the temp outside dips -0 then the check engine light comes back on and the heat will not come on at all. I wouldn't drive it, a misfire can ruin a cat or worse, washing off the oil from cylinder walls.

WebMar 17, 2024 · Your engine is fine. Replacing a thermostat will have no effect. Take it to the dealer, but unless it is malfunctioning when you take it, you will waste your money. I just turn the car off put in neutral, coast for half a minute, and then restart the car, pull over, and put it into drive. 1 people found this helpful.
