Methods Patients with ITC (n = 508) reported to the National Cancer Data Base from 1998 to 2012 were evaluated for patient, tumor, and treatment characteristics and outcomes. Patients with insular carcinoma ranged in age from 11 to 86 years, and approximately two-thirds were female (ratio: 2.2 to 1). The most common initial signs were an enlarging neck mass or goiter; dysphagia and dyspnea were common in patients with large lesions.
