If a boy does not outgrow phimosis or there are problems with urination or hygiene, treatment with certain medicated creams, such as hydrocortisone, may be effective. Treatment may involve a gentle steroid cream to try to allow the opening in the skin to begin bigger. In severe cases, a circumcision may be required.
