Webb1 jan. 2009 · Abstract. This chapter serves as an introduction to concepts from elementary probability theory and information theory in the concrete context of the real line and multi-dimensional Euclidean space. The probabilistic concepts of mean, variance, expected value, marginalization, conditioning, and conditional expectation are reviewed. WebbClassical Information Theory is the mathematical theory of information–processing tasks such as storage and transmission of information, whereas Quantum Information Theory is the study of how such tasks can be accomplished using quantum mechanical systems.
